Senior Android TV Engineer

As an Android Engineer at United Cloud, you will take part in the design, development, and testing of software for our Android TV Smart Boxes and streaming devices. 

Your work will cover our custom Android TV launcher, supporting and helper applications, as well as system-level modifications of the Android OS required to enable and integrate TV applications across multiple device models. You will develop and maintain Android applications, adapt platform behavior to product and operator requirements, and contribute to stable and reliable firmware releases. 

You will investigate and solve technical and production issues, implement new features, and contribute to technical decisions. You will use modern engineering practices and AI-assisted development tools to improve software quality and development efficiency. 

You will work closely with Google, chipset and device vendors, and internal product and engineering teams. Your solutions will power more than 1.5 million provisioned devices across Europe, making performance, stability, scalability, and maintainability essential parts of your work.

Your Responsibilities: 

• Design, develop, and maintain Android applications and platform-level components for embedded devices. 
• Optimize performance, stability, and resource usage across different device models. 
• Investigate and resolve complex software, hardware, and production issues. 
• Contribute to technical design, implementation, testing, and deployment. 
• Maintain code quality through automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing. 
• Collaborate with internal teams, Google, and third-party device and chipset vendors. 
• Contribute to architecture, technical decisions, and technology selection. 
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve development efficiency and software quality.

What we're looking for: 

• At least 5 years of software development experience. 
• Strong understanding of Android, including both application and system-level development. 
• Experience with relevant programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, C, or C++. 
• An engineering mindset focused on understanding problems, evaluating trade-offs, and choosing the right solution rather than being tied to a specific technology. 
• Curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn and propose new approaches. 
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with different teams and external vendors. 
• Experience with Linux, Android TV, embedded devices, video streaming, or audio/video codecs is a plus.
