United.cloud is seeking an expert PON Access Networks Engineer to join our team!

As a company committed to innovation and excellence, we are looking for a skilled PON Access Networks Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in advancing our fiber optic-based home gateways (GPON and XG(S)-PON ONTs).

Your Responsibilities: 

 

  • Define technical requirements for GPON and XGS-PON home gateways, ensuring functionality, performance, and interoperability with OLT ecosystems and adherence to ITU-T standards. 
  • Collaborate with software engineers to develop in-house Open Source OS-based home gateways supporting advanced features and third-party applications, helping them with domain-specific tasks and challenges. 
  • Set up, test, and validate PON provisioning and configuration workflows using ACS systems (TR-069, TR-369) and maintain a cutting-edge UC lab test environment with necessary infrastructure and tools. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the PON network, including OLT configurations, ACS communication, and gateway interoperability. 
  • Support product managers by providing technical input for product definition and aligning with industry standards and best practices. 
  • Document requirements, workflows, testing procedures, and interoperability cases while promoting best practices in network operations and access development 

 

 

What we're looking for: 

 

  • PON Technology Expertise: In-depth knowledge of GPON, XGS-PON, NG-PON2 (ITU-T G.984/G.987) with hands-on experience in OLT/ONT configurations. 
  • Provisioning and ACS Systems: Proficient in managing multi-vendor environments with ACS platforms (TR-069, TR-369) for provisioning and device management. 
  • Testing and Validation: Experienced with tools like CD Router and setting up lab environments for performance and interoperability testing. 
  • Troubleshooting: Skilled in diagnosing and resolving issues across gateways, OLTs, and ACS systems. 
  • Collaboration: Strong ability to work cross-functionally and share domain knowledge to align team efforts. 
  • Network Operations: Knowledgeable in implementing best practices for network operations, adhering to industry standards and trends. 
  • Fiber Optics Fundamentals: Solid understanding of signal propagation, attenuation, dispersion, and optical network design. 
  • Documentation: Skilled in documenting requirements, test procedures and scenarios, and configurations to ensure standards compliance. 
  • Solid problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges. 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment. 

 

Nice to have: 

 

  • Hands-on experience with large-scale home gateway deployments. 
  • Knowledge of IoT and smart home technologies.
